TRAC ContextIt should be noted that, while this attack, nor has the 27 September 20221 attack in Sokoto State have been claimed by the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWA / ISWAP), the tactics used are highly reminiscent of both ISWAP and ISGS. ISWAP affiliate Islamic State in the Greater Sahara (ISGS) operates in Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger, but has not forayed into Nigeria thus far.
